The estate
A 1928 colonial on six and a half gated acres with a four-stall barn, a rose garden cut for evening light, and a walnut library that has hosted three governors. Trail access to the lagoon.
Hacienda La Serena has had four owners in nearly a century. The 1928 house was designed in the Spanish Colonial style, with whitewashed walls, deep-set windows, and a central courtyard planted with a single coast live oak that predates the house.
The walnut-paneled library, with its original fireplace and a hidden stair to the wine room, has hosted three California governors. The kitchen was rebuilt in 2018 around a French range and a scullery; the rest of the house has been kept close to how it was built.
Six and a half gated acres include a four-stall barn with tack room, a riding ring, a rose garden planted to catch the evening light, and a pool cabana with a guest suite. A private gate opens onto the Hope Ranch bridle trails, which run down to Laguna Blanca.
